Transcript for 2 killed after helicopter gets tangled in power lines, catches fire

The low-flying chopper tangled in power lines. Two people were killed, but two survived, and witnesses say they made a desperate jump from about 40 feet up. Here’s ABC’s David Kerley. Reporter: A shocking scene. Helicopter ran into some wires. Crashed into the ground. Reporter: That helicopter, inspecting power poles, ending up entangled in wires. Part of it dangling and ablaze before falling. I have another patient. He jumped from the helicopter. Reporter: At least one of the utility workers jumping from the flaming wreckage, falling the length of a power pole, 40 feet. Another northline utilities worker surviving, as well. Some witnesses saying all four onboard jumped. You could see people down in the field trying to do cpr on the victims and everything. Reporter: The pilot and another utility worker, they did not survive this crash in beekmantown, New York, near the Canadian border. Tonight, federal investigators are on the scene trying to determine how the chopper ended up in those wires. The two survivors were called walking wounded. They were taken to a local hospital, treated and released. David? David Kerley, thank you.
