A 14-year-old middle school student is recovering after police say a classmate shot him once in the chest at an Arkansas school.
Prescott Police Chief Joseph Beavers said Tuesday the student seems to be in good spirits and is expected to make a full recovery. Authorities say the shooting started as a dispute between the two students over the weekend and carried over to school on Monday.
Cynthia Webb, whose sons are classmates of both boys, told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette she was in the school’s office when the child who was shot walked in. She said she tried to calm the boy down while others tried to stop the bleeding.
The county prosecutor did not immediately respond to questions about criminal charges.
