Jury selection hits snag in trial of alleged serial rapist

Jury selection in the first trial of a former college baseball player accused of sexually assaulting six women hit a snag after a potential juror talked about the case with others.

Selection of a jury in the trial of Clay Conaway was scheduled to begin Tuesday, but the judge dismissed scores of people in the jury pool after attorneys learned that one of them spoke with other potential jurors.

Conaway is a former University of Delaware baseball player. He is accused of raping the women between September 2013 and July 2018.

The judge in July granted a defense motion to hold separate trials regarding each of Conaway’s accusers.
