Reporter: One of the ten commandments is, thou shall not steal. A lesson the archdiocese says was apparently ignored by two nuns at this southern California catholic school. The school telling parents sister Mary Margaret kreuper and sister Lana Chang admit embezzling school funds. The archdiocese says the nuns took half a million dollars or more over the years, allegedly to spend on travel and casino gambling. The alleged theft revealed during a recent audit. At first, the school said it “Does not wish to pursue criminal proceedings.” But now, the archdiocese tells ABC news the investigation has deepened and they are considering pursuing a criminal case. Church parishioners today agreed. It’s a crime. Right. Just because they’re in a special place doesn’t mean they can do that. Reporter: In a recent letter to parents, the school monsignor says the nuns have “Asked that I convey to you the deep remorse they each feel for their actions and ask for your forgiveness and prayers.” The nuns’ order says the women are cooperating and intend to pay the money back, in full. That’s a lot of money. I’d like to know what they did with the money. I don’t know. What could they spend it on? I don’t know.
